About HPR.
Hacker Public Radio (HPR) is an Internet Radio show (podcast) that releases shows every weekday Monday through Friday. HPR has a long lineage going back to Radio FreeK America, Binary Revolution Radio & Infonomicon, and it is a direct continuation of Twatech radio. Please listen to StankDawg's "Introduction to HPR" for more information.
What differentiates HPR from other podcasts is that the shows are produced by the community - fellow listeners like you!. There is no restrictions on how long the show can be, nor on the topic you can cover as long as they "are of interest to hackers". If you want to see what topics have been covered so far just have a look at our Archive. We also allow for a series of shows so that host(s) can go into more detail on a topic.
You can download/listen to the show here or you can subscribe to the show in your favorite podcatching client (like BashPodder) to automatically get our new shows as soon as they are available. You can copy and redistribute the shows for free provided you adhere to the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-
F.A.Q.
How do I upload a show?
Right now the best way is to email the admin, droops is setting up several ways to upload the show.
Where do I get the theme
You can download it here or here. Please leave it the same, as we want the show to have a theme that ties each episode into each other and we need the ad at the end of every show.
How do I join HPR to do an episode?
Just email the admin at admin @@ hackerpublicradio.org and he will send you all the information that you need.
What if i just want to record one show??
You dont have to be on the calendar, you can just do a show whenever you want and send it in.
Who has time to do a daily show?
The show works on a rotating schedule of hosts, who are responsible for putting the show out on their day. This will stop fatigue of doing a show every week, in fact the more people that want to host the less shows that everyone will have to do. With more time between shows, we feel that this will increase the content quality of each show. Now, along with the rotating hosts, we welcome anyone to submit a show, even if you are only interested in doing one show, we always need backup episodes and enjoy having more and more content.
